A movement and musculoskeletal screen with both a physiotherapist and a strength and conditioning coach. We will assess how you move and how to help you get the most out of your training. From this assessment, an individualised training program will be formulated taking into account your needs and goals.

Manual therapy

Thoughtful, clinically reasoned and goal orientated hands on treatment can help you move comfortably again. Using techniques such as soft tissue release, joint mobilisations, taping and dry needling in combination with other physiotherapy treatments such as pilates can help you reach your goals.

1 hour appointment with 30mins hands on/manual therapy followed by 30mins pilates using the reformer to improve movement patterns, biomechanics, muscle length and strength
30minute appointment for either Pilates or manual therapy depending on what you need

In depth, full body movement, functional strength and muscle length assessment. Utilising the pilates reformer to get a more targeted and dynamic workout to address your specific focus areas.

Specific to you, a bike fit session will utilise slow motion video technology to assess your riding position and style. By adapting the bike to your body we can make your riding experience more comfortable and your riding goals more achievable.

Is your dog less keen to walk or jump? Has their behaviour changed recently? Have they had surgery or lived a full and active life and now seem stiff on moving? Animal Physiotherapy is a specialist field of physiotherapy requiring extensive post graduate training with the sole purpose of getting your loved pets moving well and living full and active lives.

Utilising slow motion technology and watching you run on the treadmill will be combined with a full body, range of movement assessment and shoe review to help minimise injury risk and keep you running.

Who is Emily?

Emily graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 2004 from University of Southampton in the UK and then went on to work in Oxford, UK in the acute hospital trust. This experience developed her professionalism and clinical expertise in a broad client group. There is probably nothing you can present with that she hasn’t met before. She moved to Australia and completed further studies in:

  • Pilates : She is an APPI instructor and also went on to train physiotherapists to become pilates instructors
  • Certificate in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy : Advanced treatment techniques to improve headaches, pain and movement dysfunctions causing pain
  • Kinetic Link Training : A whole body strengthening method developed in Queensland using resistance training to strengthen the whole body
  • Dry Needling : Utilising a fine needle (an acupuncture needle) to treat local muscle pain and dysfunction.

Since moving to Christchurch she has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) in Animal Physiotherapy from University of Liverpool.

Emily has skills and experience in movement and biomechanics through working in a wide variety of specialisms including animal physio, paediatrics, neuro and musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She looks at the client as a whole including who they are and what they want to achieve. She understands that life can create barriers and wants to inspire people to be their best self through education and support, hands on manual therapy using knowledge gained from up to date research and clinical experience.
